FAQ
Original
video tapes as the source
Q: Why should I transfer
my Video Tapes to DVD?
A: Video tapes are fading faster than you think. Over time, the
magnetic particles (iron oxide) on the tapes that make up the picture
and sound of your video begin to lose their bond to the plastic
tapes. Video tapes usually start to deteriorate in 7 to 10 years,
while DVD can last for 300 years according to a research by Sony.
Q: Why DVD is the
best way to preserve my precious memories on video tapes?
A: The video and audio signals from your video tape are converted
to digital signals and then physically burned onto the DVD disc
via laser. DVDs can be preserved up to 300 years without ANY quality
loss. Unlike video tapes, it can be viewed thousands of times without
any quality loss. It is also the best way to share with your family
and friends since all DVD copies can be made 100% loseless from
the first DVD.

related Information
Q: How is the quality
of the transferred DVD?
A: We use professional software and hardware for the video conversion
to achieve the best quality. However, your source video tapes determine
the overall quality. For Photo DVD, photos are scanned at the best
resolution for DVD format.
Q: What are Chapter
Marks and why would I want this option?
Chapter Marks are an optional service that we offer our customers.
They are segments of your video that you specify as separate titles
for the DVD by giving us the START and STOP time code from your
original source video tape. Each Chapter Mark will appear on the
Main Menu of your new DVD with its own 24 character Title that you
specify.
If you want this option you'll need to use our ORDER FORM and specify
the START & STOP timecode (ie: 07:55:20 - hh:mm:ss) from your
source tape. You can obtain the time code from your VCR by rewinding
your video tape to the beginning and reset your VCR counter to zero
(00:00:00). Then, playback your tape until you find the location
where you want the title to START and write down the hours, minutes
and seconds from your VCR. Continue playing your tape (do not reset
the counter at this point) until you find the location where you
want that title to STOP and write down the hours, minutes and seconds
on the counter. This is a Chapter Mark. Keep in mind that any video
segments that fall BETWEEN Chapter Marks on your video tape WILL
NOT be transferred to the DVD. You will need to specify BACK-to-BACK
Chapter Marks if you want all of your video transferred.
When you receive your new DVD you will see all of your Chapter Marks
on the DVD main menu. You can then click on any Chapter Mark Title
from the DVD menu to quickly jump to that section of the DVD.
You can specify up to fifteen (15) Chapter Marks per DVD.
Q: I have a special
request for my DVD. How do I tell you?
A: Communication is very important before and during your DVD project
because once the final DVD is burned it cannot be changed without
additional cost to you. Our engineers will keep a file in your name
for each of your DVD projects. We ask that you call us via telephone
with any special instructions. We may have some questions for you
and will ultimately need to discuss if your request is feasible
and if any additional costs are involved. Your special requests
must be received prior to the start of your production and will
be kept in your business file with us.
