What is Photo-to-Video (Video Montage) ?

Make a Priceless Gift for the One You Love and Care!

Photo-to-Video means putting a lot of photos in a certain order, making them into a slide show, then authoring the slide show into various video formats. It is just like a movie except it contains a lot of stills showing one after another. Photo-to-Video can become very fancy and impressive when it adds in titles, music, transition effects, etc. The montage of special photos set to music is a very unique gift that will become a treasured heirloom passing from generation to generation.

How does a video montage look like?

The montage will open with broadcast quality titles and then each photo is displayed for approximately 5-6 seconds. The photos are all digitally processed and arranged so that as the first photo fades out, the next photo is smoothly fading in. In addition, special transitions are artfully incorporated by our editors. Music of your choice is incorporated into the montage. Each photo is cropped to best display the central content of the picture and then enlarged to fill the size of a television screen; so often the photos on the montage looked better than the actual photographs.

There are usually two media format to store the final production: VHS and DVD. VHS tapes can play via VCR, while DVD can play on DVD player or DVD-equipped computer. DVD format is usually preferred since it offers far better picture and sound quality and many other features than VHS.

How do we make a photo-to-video DVD or VHS (video montage)?

We at Evertrue accept virtually any sources suitable for making Photo-to-Video DVD or VHS. They include digital media or memory cards (such as CompactFlash cards, SmartMedia cards, stick memories, multimedia cards, CDs, zip discs) and photo prints, 35mm slides/negatives, newspaper clippings, diplomas, logos and any other documents.

All photos are put into a stream of slide show, each picture stays for about 6 seconds, with transition effect between each photo still. Each photo will not be edited and will show completely on screen. The video will be mixed with custom music/song provided by the customer.

Your order will be finished within 5 to 8 business days after we receive all the material and payments.

We will return all the material submitted by customer together with the produced photo DVDs or VHS tapes via UPS/Fedex. If you are a local customer, we will call you when they are ready.

What transition effects are available?

We can incorporate many transition effects into your photo-to-video products. The most common ones are listed below: (All samples are in flash format to illustrate combined effects of video, music and transition.) If you do not specify what transition effect to be used, We will use the first option -- Fade in/out as the default transition.

Fade in/out (default)
(453KB)
Soft Squeeze
(523KB)
Expand Fade
(554KB)
Fly Off
(433KB)
Curl Horizon
(412KB)
Ripple
(484KB)
Frame
(478KB)
Soaring In
(452KB)

Please Note that the actual video and audio quality on DVD or VHS are much higher than the samples above, since these samples are highly compressed in order to achieve the small file sizes.

How many photos or slides can I fit into the montage?

It depends on your needs. Most people include anywhere from 60 to 350 photos and slides into one video montage. A rule of thumb is to divide the total number of photos / slides by 10 to get the total minutes of the video length.

For example, if you have 200 photos, the final video will last 200/10=20 minutes.

How many songs/music should I put into the video montage?

Based on the same rule as above, you first derive how long the video lasts by dividing the total number of photos by 10 to get the total minutes of the video length. And then find your own selection of music that will last at least as long as the video length. We will fade out music as needed if the music provided is longer than video.

For example, if you have 250 photos, the final video will last 250/10=25 minutes. Then you need to provide us with music (on CDs) that lasts at least 25 minutes.

Are actual samples you made for customers available for evaluation?

Yes. We will email you the link only upon request. Samples are strictly for evaluation purpose.

What do you get?

Together with your original materials (photos, slides, digital media), you will get:

A professional video tape or DVD to hold the final video montage for lasting results.
One free title at the beginning of your video.

Free music add-on from the music CDs you provided.
A free DVD Jewel Case (like the one you see on DVD movies) or dust-proof VHS storage case.

How much does it cost?

The pricing for the standard video montage has two parts plus shipping.

1. The scanning and editting of pictures. That is 75 cents per photo. If you have 100 photos, it is 75 dollars. (Slide/negative scanning is 95 cents each.)

2. Putting it together with music (you provide the music CDs), transition effect, and one free title. This part is 34.95.

For example, for a basic montage with 100 pictures, the cost is 75 dollars plus 34.95. That is 109.95. Ground
shipping is 6.99.

The following shows itemized pricing:

Original DVD or VHS tape (first copy) $34.95/ea
extra DVD or VHS copy $14.95/ea
Digital pictures with cropping $0.30/ea
Physical photos/documents (up to 8X10) with cropping $0.75/ea
35mm slides/negetives with cropping $0.95/ea
Extra titling after the first free title screen $3.00/ea
Change/Switch of transition types each time $5.00
Mixing music from CD free
Mixing music from media other than CD (audio tape, etc) $10 for each DVD/VHS
Chaptering at 5-minute intervals on DVD (custom chaptering $2/each) free
Disk label design and Direct-onto-disk printing $4.95/disk
Shipping fee (UPS or Fedex ground) $6.99 per order

Note: We strongly suggest most portrait pictures be digitally cropped for best results. Here is why.

We can customize the production based on your specific requirements such as animations, timing the music, mixing video clips, looping the montage continuously, etc. These special editing options are available at the current studio edit rate of $30 per hour.

How it works?

1. Number your photographs/slides/negatives/documents (on the back or with a post-it note attached) in the order you wish to have them appear on the video.

2. Write your titles on Post-It notes and place them on the appropriate photo. Some people want a title only at the beginning of the video.

3. Group the pictures together in groups of approximately 25-30 and place them into ziplock baggies. Number the bags. You may also use ruber bands to group them.

4. Print out a preliminary Invoice on the pricing page and fill it out.

5. Include a check or money order of exact amount. Or you can send PayPal cash. We do NOT accept credit cards including Paypal Credit Card.

6. Put them in a box and send by a trackable service such as UPS or FedEx to:
