The humorous, playful thing has been done before in the college ranks, most notably for me is Macalester College’s video masterpiece:
The lighter side of the college sell cannot be underestimated. As schools like Beloit look to expand their reach and engage in new markets, there are few better tactics then the viral video. We’re all inclined to send funny material to our email lists or social networks. It’s great to see Macalester and Beloit deviating from the sometimes stuffy status quo of higher education marketing.
Kudos to Beloit on this April Fool’s 2011. Best of luck in your Super marketing campaign. I look forward to seeing it evolve!
