Some of the best donors already sitting in your file aren’t the ones giving the most. They’re the ones with more room to give, waiting to be found.
Who
The Street Dog Coalition is a nonprofit providing free veterinary care to pets of people experiencing homelessness, with programs running in more than 60 cities across the country.
The Challenge
When The Street Dog Coalition’s Director of Development started, the team was still tracking donations on spreadsheets, a setup familiar to a lot of younger nonprofits. She moved the organization onto a real system of record early on. From there, the next challenge was understanding who among their constituents actually had the capacity to give more.
Why EverTrue
DonorSearch by EverTrue’s integration with Bloomerang meant every constituent profile had a direct link to open in DonorSearch CORE, turning that new CRM data into something the team could actually act on. After just one presentation with the EverTrue team, it was clear this would be critical to reading between the lines of their own data and surfacing information about donors that their CRM alone couldn’t show them.
“DonorSearch CORE’s signature rating system allows us to zoom in on the individuals who have the greatest capacity to support us, learn everything there is to learn about these individuals, and then devise a plan to cultivate, steward, and solicit them moving forward.” — The Street Dog Coalition
The Results
Beyond identifying their highest-capacity supporters, the team used DonorSearch CORE to find what they call “hidden gems”: donors who aren’t giving at a major gift level to The Street Dog Coalition yet, but whose giving history to other organizations shows they’re capable of giving significantly more.
That gave the team something their spreadsheets and CRM couldn’t: a clearer picture of who had the potential to become a bigger supporter. Instead of looking only at what a donor had already given to The Street Dog Coalition, the team could see the broader philanthropic picture and use it to guide who they cultivated, stewarded, and solicited.
“With this new information that was previously unknown, and continues to be revealed to us on a daily basis through DonorSearch, we are more than able to cultivate long-term, meaningful relationships with the right people.” — The Street Dog Coalition
That’s the difference between having donor data and actually knowing your donors. The Street Dog Coalition didn’t just get more information. They got a better way to see which relationships could grow.
